The Lovell Telescope at Jodrell Bank in Cheshire has always captivated me. I was travelling to the Lake District for a workshop and decided to book an overnight stay close to the telescope so I could take this opportunity to photograph it. Its very difficult to photograph as there are many surrounding distractions and is also on private land. After driving around for a while I managed to find a spot from the road where I could take this image by climbing out of my sunroof and standing on the roof of the car. As the sun was setting behind me I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. It was illuminating the bowl, reminding me of a crescent moon and creating a shadow of the radio transmitter.
