I have walked past this metal framed window for 15 years and only ever taken pictures on my phone. I kept imagining the perfect composition in my head and trying to pre visualise the outcome. So on April 21st 2020 during the Corona Virus lockdown we were only allowed to go out of our homes to exercise for an hour a day. Luckily I only walked for 5 minutes to arrive at my destination. I knew the sky had to be bright blue with no clouds, no people on the beach and a lovely blue sea. Also the tide had to be just right otherwise it would merge into the bottom bird or have no sand in the image. It took me a long time to set up my tripod at the correct height enabling me to capture each bird in the correct position and not clipping the horizon. I always knew I wanted a long exposure to soften the background to give the birds more focus, in so doing, creating a layering of colours and a canvas style image.
