Well I am still floating on my cloud from last weeks Convention with the Society Of Photographers.
It was such a professionally organised, friendly and informative event. I think I was living off adrenaline all week.
Catching up with some old friends and meeting new ones really made the event special.
The Wednesday and Thursday judging of the 20” x 16” print competition was enlightening.
I watched the Natural World category, Advertising and Monochrome.
I learnt so much from what the judges were looking for, technically and creatively.
Every year it takes my photographic journey to the next level.
I was over the moon to have all 4 of my prints hung in the gallery with a merit award. My Winter Trees in Isolation reached the finals and was re judged after two days as it had achieved one of the highest marks in the Natural World category. It was then nominated for the Photographer of the year for the 20 x 16 print competition.
The awards evening on the Friday night was truly inspiring. I had been nominated for Photographer Of The Year in the In Camera Artistry Category after achieving a Gold award in the monthly competition.
I was lucky enough to have my husband, son and his fiancé with me celebrating my nominations. My heart was pounding as I walked up on stage to collect my certificate, but as they announced the winner of the In Camera Artistry Photographer Of The Year Category and it was ME! I felt shocked and emotional all at the same time. It was like walking on stage to collect your trophy at the Oscars, but more real.
Obviously the bottle of champagne had to be done.
I also won Photographer Of The Year for the 20 x 16 print Competition with my Winter Trees In Isolation image from the Natural World Category.
To take home two trophies from the night was such an achievement for all the hard work that I put into my photography.
My photographic journey has been growing every year and I would like to thank all the people that have inspired me and helped me to achieve these accolades.
